4 TOP TRICKS TO LIVE WELL NOW
1 Hear your body
It’s talking to you, if only you can learn its language. But how do you do that? The first step is to understand that your body is a system, compiled of many sub-systems which all interact in a beautiful ecological way. When something in one part of the ecosystem gets out of whack, it has a knock-on effect somewhere else. That means that the signs and symptoms of dysfunction can show up in strange and unrelated places – for example, who would think that chronic migraines could be the result of eating something you’re intolerant to?
Instead of spending your life in a haze of click-and-worry ‘Googlechondria’ (we all do it!), find out exactly how the body works by reading Cook Yourself Young (especially Chapter 3). It’ll help you ‘hear’ your body and discover how to get rid of the health niggles, aches and chronic dis-eases that are stopping you living life to the full.
2 Discover your intolerances
Do you feel bad after eating or drinking something; have to cough or clear your throat after swallowing; or suffer from a runny nose, cracked skin, rashes, eczema, bloating, itchy scalp, headaches, swelling or night sweats? Then you are probably intolerant to something you are eating or drinking. The most likely culprits are dairy, wheat, gluten, yeast and soya. To find out which, get yourself along to a NAET practitioner or cut out the suspicious food for six weeks and see how you feel …
3 Build your immunity
This one is globally important. You’ve heard about how antibiotics are becoming less effective as we overuse and abuse them and that doctors are now being asked to prescribe them less frequently? One way to protect your body is to build up your immune system so it becomes super-robust. That process starts in the gut. By eating a very wide range of natural foods including fermented foods, colourful vegetables, sprouted grains and fibre-rich whole grains, you’ll tilt the gut’s bacterial balance towards health. Probiotics (‘good’ bacteria) flourish, your immune system grows stronger, chronic illnesses disappear, you’ll feel better and can wave goodbye to unnecessary antibiotic administration forever. Plus by minimising your use of antibiotics you’ll have made one small step towards improving the health of the world.
4 Maximise positive energy
Have you ever noticed when you smile at someone on the street, they smile back, or when you have a spring in your step people want to talk to and be around you? Conversely when you are feeling down and depressed and really need a kind word or some comfort, people avoid you and are just ‘not there’ for you. This is an example of like attracting like. If ever you thought that your ‘attitude’, ‘mood’ or voice inside your head does not affect the people around you, think again.
If you want to be one of those people who attracts positive energy, good fortune, a contented love life and fulfilment at work, you need to listen to how you are talking to yourself inside. How much are you saying ‘you can’t do something’, ‘you need to be better at …’ , ‘you wish you were more…’, ‘nobody loves you…’. If negative scenarios like these are going on inside your head, I can tell you 100% that this will be reflected on the outside. Change the record in your head and you’ll change your living experience.
Beating yourself up over food and ‘feeling bad’ because of the food you eat is one of the easiest most self-destructive things to overcome. Follow the Cook Yourself Young diet and you will feel good not starved, you’ll get to your optimum weight, and your brain will be less agitated because it will be ‘fed’ the right foods, sugars and omega fats to maintain equilibrium, which makes it easier for you to control your thoughts.
If this all sounds a bit wacky, test it out – start acting ‘as if’. You will be amazed at how the ‘universe’ gives you what you want if you ask for it in the right way and stop beating yourself up inside.
